Discover 300 years of history in Kingston, an active participant in the American Revolution, and a major river port during New York*s 19th-century canal and steamboat era. Sky Top Motel was completely renovated in 1985, converting from its former Swiss chalet decor, to Victorian, for which Kingston is renowned. Highlighting the antiques which now grace the magnificent Victorian Lobby, are a rosewood square piano, dated 1870, handcrafted by Lietz; a 1908 Aeolian Victorola, in working condition; a flame mahogany Empire Victorian conference table; a detailed floral wood-burning stove; and an unusual 9 foot double-faced Victorian Peer mirror. Equally impressive are the massive stone fireplace, magnificent brass chandeliers, oak-paneled walls, and solid oak mantle, which emphasize the exquisite craftsmanship that went into the original construction of Sky Top. The upstairs rooms of the main Manor House are dotted with period antiques, and offer a superb second-story view of the grounds and Valley.
