Thomson House Villager Lodge sits on a beautiful scenic countryside bordered on the east by the remains of the old bluffs and on the west by the Mississippi River. The bluffs provide great hunting while the Mississippi provides fishing and boating. The Thomson Causeway is within one mile of the Lodge and a boat launch facility is available for a modest ($4) charge. Fifteen minutes from the Lodge is the Mississippi River Boat Casino in Clinton, IA. The Lodge is equipped with an on site restaurant, "The Watermelon Cafe", laudromat, and a bike rental shop. Guests receive on free bike rental during our first year for an opening promotion. With the Blackhawk/Great River Road bike trail within 1/4 mile of the lodge and light traffic in the Village of Thomson, this is a perfect way to see the countryside. The trail extends to the Quad Cities (Moline) and north to Savanna. Antique malls abound in which are 8 miles north. An 18-hole golf course is located 2 miles from the lodge. The lodge, constructed in April of 2000, is equipped with microwave, refrigerator, phone modem, computer access, free HBO and remote TV. It has a craft shop and is within one mile of the famous outdoor McGinnis Melon Market. Thomson Melon Days, a 3 day Labor Day weekend festival, brings the village to life when over 24 tons of watermelon is consumed yearly, amusement rides, craft shows, local entertainment, and non-stop baseball and softball bring over 10,000 visitors to the community. One mile west of the Lodge is the newly constructed maximum security prison built by the State of Illinois making this a very safe property. Everything is new and ready to receive our guests, including three theme rooms featuring a heart (honeymoon suite) which has a jacuzzi and a complimentary champagne, a lions room complete with a safari theme, and a country room with the comforts of home. Our rates are great and we will provide on-site tourist information. Also, Galena is only 35 minutes north and Palisdes State Park is 10 minutes north.
