The Hilton Amsterdam is an ideal location for both the business and leisure traveller, situated in one of the most exclusive areas in the city - indeed in the Netherlands. The Hilton Amsterdam opened in 1962, the first international Hilton Hotel in Europe and the first international hotel in The Netherlands. Designed in 1958 by the Dutch architect Maaskant, its structure continued along the same lines of Berlage's earlier ideas. The hotel’s characteristic V-shape is significant as it shows where the two main avenues of Amsterdam meet; the Apollolaan and the Minervalaan.
The Hilton Amsterdam is located in the South of Amsterdam in "Het Apollokwartier", the commercial and fashionable heart of the city. A 15 minute drive from Schiphol Airport and 5 minute drive from the downtown area. The hotel is surrounded by exclusive shopping areas, museums, galleries and some of the city’s most fashionable restaurants, bars and nightlife.
In 1998 the hotel was totally rebuilt. All guest rooms now have air-conditioning, fire sprinkler systems and ISDN lines.
The hotel has 271 deluxe contemporary rooms. The Meeting and Convention Centre is fitted with state of the art facilities, including a fully equipped Business Centre, which can accommodate small and large groups up to 1000 people. Roberto's Restaurant, Half Moon Lounge, Issimo Esspresso Bar, Garden Terrace and the Harbour Café are unique locations to relax. In addition the Hotel has its own Marina with authentic Dutch canal boats. The Health & Fitness Club is one of the largest and best equipped in Amsterdam.
