Few German hotels can claim a history as rich as that of the Hotel Elephant, which was first officially documented in 1542. The 'Elephant' was the social and cultural focus of Weimar at the close of the 17th century. Goethe, Liszt, J.S. Bach and later Leo Tolstoy, to name but a few, were patrons of the 'Elephant' and contributed to the hotel's sterling reputation.
The property was completely renovated and reopened as a 5-star deluxe hotel in 1993, and joined the Starwood family in 2000. With 102 luxurious guest rooms and suites, renowned restaurants and bars and a famous art collection, the 'Elephant' is a truly unique establishment.
