Grand Trunk Railways commissioned the Chateau to be built in a French Gothic design.
Construction was completed by Garth & Co of Montreal, who used granite blocks, light buff limestone, white Italian marble and cooper for the roof.
Other points of interest in the design of the hotel include: $4.5 million worth of antiques; Travertine Marble staircase with brass railing; Czechoslovakian crystal and several vases in the Ball Room and an art deco pool.
