After their success in London, the team that brought the British captial a hotel institution with The Met are taking their creativity to Thailand. The Metropolitan Bangkok, looks set to make just as many waves as its older sister with a mix of sleek design, sceney atmosphere, cool clientele and extraordinary service, laid on by Yamamoto-clad staff.
At home on South Sathorn Road, the hotel (only 30 minutes from Bangkoks international airport) is set in the citys refined financial and diplomatic district. Its 174 rooms, including four penthouse suites and a two-bedroom presidential suite, will offer a wide spectrum of comforts including highspeed broadband internet access, 25 flat screen TVs with satellite and cable channels, DVD player and extensive mini bar. For more meditative moments, yoga mats will also be provided in each room, as will a range of Shambhala bathroom amenities.
In the Metropolitans restaurants, Cyan and Glow, Executive Chef, Amanda Gale, will present her version of Food from the Sun, dedicated to the freshest local produce, showcasing healthy, organic menues. The Met Bar will also serve lunches, but transforms at night into a hip urban liquid lounge, where martinis take the place of modern Asian cuisine.
To complete the Metropolitan experience, with ten treatment rooms covering 1200 square meters, the Shambhala health and fitness centre will cater for body and mind with world class treatments drawing on traditional Thai, Ayurvedic and various Asian therapies.
